A new documentary film, ‘The Truth Behind the Dash for Gas’, will get a first screening in Frome upstairs at the Cornerhouse Pub, Bath Street, on Tuesday 10th December from 7.30pm. So why not order a drink at the bar, then come on up and find out what industry and government officials alike would rather we didn’t know.Somerset-based film-maker, Marco Jackson, spent months meticulously researching his subject, also interviewing a wide range of people, including local geologists. Funded through an award from Lush Cosmetics and produced by Frack Free Somerset, the film gives the general public a direct insight into the reality of this controversial technology, including evidence from ordinary people in Australia and the US. Government licenses currently permit exploration in the Mendips, and in 2014 a new round of licensing is likely to greatly extend where fracking companies can drill.
After the hour-long screening, there will be a Q & A session with members of Frack Free Somerset. Entrance to the film is with a suggested donation of £5, but no-one will be turned away through lack of funds.
