Waste Water Disposal Costs Could Make Fracking Uneconomic in UK
News from Drillordrop.
An academic report published on 6th May highlights the major problems of disposal faced by the emerging Fracking industry in the UK.
A joint US-UK workshop was held in Arlington, Virginia in November last year involving representatives from the National Science Foundation (US) and the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK) among others.
The aim of the workshop was to draw on US experience of unconventional oil and gas to help inform the development of these industries in the UK.
One of the reports conclusions was that as deep well injection is not an option in the UK for disposal of waste water, the ensuing disposal costs may make fracking unviable.
