National Day Of Action – Great Turn Out

Last Sunday saw a national day of action under the banner – ‘NO FRACKING WAY’.

Events took place from Edinburgh to the Isle of Wight with many hundreds turning out to voice their opposition to the Governments plans to frack our beautiful open spaces.

Members of Frack Free Somerset joined with fellow activists from Keep Wiltshire Frack Free to stage a wild and windy demonstration above the White Horse at Westbury. Spirits were high as the elements provided ample proof that there is massive untapped energy ripe for harvesting that could keep the UK energy secure for many generations without the need to resort to the dangerous and damaging practices of shale gas extraction, coal bed methane or underground coal gasification.

People had gathered from as far way as Swindon in order to come together and show solidarity for a saner approach to UK energy policy. This action was echoed around the country and helped to remind us all that there is a strong and vibrant movement ready to oppose those who seek to threaten the safety of our air, water and local communities.White Horse 31.1.16
